How to prevent damp and mould issues
DRY CLOTHES IN VENTILATED AREAS
Do not put your clothes on the radiators to dry as this causes moisture in the air which can cause mould to get on the walls and ceilings. Try using a humidifier to take the moisture out of the air or open the windows and use a clothes airer.
KEEP DOORS CLOSED WHEN BATHING/SHOWERING OR COOKING
Do not keep the doors open in the bathroom or kitchen as this could cause moisture to spread to other rooms. Open windows or use the extractor fan to disperse moisture and get rid of the cooking smells.
KEEP YOUR PROPERTY AIRED
Regularly open the windows so the home is well ventilated.
KEEP THE BLACK MOULD AWAY
Wipe the condensation from your window frames every day with a damp cloth, remembering to dry it afterwards.
KEEP YOUR HOME HEATED
Keeping your home heated helps to dry out the damp and reduce the mould.
REPORT ANY LEAKS
Report any unusual leaks straight away to prevent further damage, use a bucket or bowl to catch drips and keep the surfaces dry with towels or a mop.
